    Diocesan Museum (Museo Diocesano)

    Castello Sforzesco

    Castello Sforzesco has been the victim of several haphazard restoration attempts, but the 14th century castles still feeds the imagination. Inside are a series of museums, including the Museo d'Arte Antica, which houses Michelangelo's unfinished last work.

    Extensively damaged during the Second World War, the Palazzo Reale was originally the Ducal Palace of the 14th-century Visconti family. Restoration continues slowly, and the ruins point still to the destruction and wastefulness of war.

    Ambrosiana Library & Picture Gallery (Pinacoteca Ambrosiana)

    Caravaggio's only still-life is housed in the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, as well as the rumoured-to-be-a-fake Portrait of a Musician, what may be the only portrait by da Vinci to hang in an Italian museum.

    Bagatti Valsecchi Museum

    The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum is located in the Montenapoleone district of downtown Milan. Originally a Renaissance palace, the building was transformed by Fausto and Giuseppe Bagatti Valsecchi at the end of the 19th century. Opened as a museum in 1994, the permanent exhibits include works of Italian Renaissance art from the Bagatti Valsecchi's private collection.

    Brera Art Gallery (Pinacoteca di Brera)

    Housed in a 400-year-old palace, the Pinacoteca di Brera has a huge collection of medieval and Renaissance art thanks to the work of Napoléon, who used the site as a repository for the confiscated property of wealthy northern Italians.     Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology

    The Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology has more than 15,000 pieces in its collection. There is a large section dedicated to da Vinci, where real-life scale models, created from his drawings, depict some of da Vinci's inventions.
